Block That Spill!

In football, cheerleaders sometimes chant, “Block that kick!” Other sports use similar lingo to keep the spectators enthused and the team amped up for a win.

The spill containment field doesn’t employ a cheer squadper se, though anyone who works in environmental services is doubtless jubilant when a spill is averted or minimized. ISHN Magazine (Industrial Safety & Hygiene News)saysthe EPA “looks at the small-oil-spill problem as a death by a thousand cuts.” That’s poetic, and also very unfortunate.

The truth is, while tanker or pipeline spills make the news, they account for just a fraction of the oil that spills into our waterways. The vast majority of “invisible oil pollution” 80 percent happens on land due to vehicle or equipment failures, usually when least expected (of course). And they tend to happen to individuals who are ill equipped or under-trained to handle the spill.

While training is the purview of the business owner, we can provide the eco friendly spill clean up, spill containment, and spill prevention products to help reduce that 80 percent figure.
