Chemical spill forces officials to close roads in Georgia

Grant County, Georgia, officials reported a chemical spill and fire on March 22, 2012, according to Columbia Basin Herald. Fire and police authorities responded immediately to the disaster after roughly 800 pounds of a dry chemical fertilizer spilled near Road 1 Northwest and State Route 281.

Grant County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kyle Foreman told the news source an unknown individual was tearing apart a container when the fertilizer ignited. Foreman said no injuries were reported and there was no immediate risk to public health, but roads were closed as a precautionary measure.

Environmental cleanup can become difficult for people completing work along busy highways. However, these workers can use the XSORB outdoor all-purpose absorbent to contain leaks easily in any environment.

The product provides non-toxic, eco-friendly cleanup of all types of liquids and semi-liquids instantly. Cleanup workers can take advantage of the absorbent’s ability to clean up approximately six times more than clay to save labor time and money. The solution absorbs up to 1.5 quarts, and its heavier formula makes it safe for use in windy conditions.
