Chemical spill in West Hartford had the potential to contaminate local reservoirs

In West Hartford, Connecticut, a truck carrying fluoride to a Metropolitan District Commission facility began to leak, reports NBC Connecticut.

Officials were immediately called to help contain and assess the leak, which had occurred very close to MDC reservoirs in West Hartford. The reservoirs supply drinking water to much of the surrounding area.

At first, it was unclear how much of the 4,500 gallons of fluoride had leaked. To prevent further spills, the remaining fluoride was offloaded into storage tanks, reports the news source.

Firefighters were called into action and asked workers to stay out of the building where the leak had occurred.

In situations where time is of the essence and chemical solutions have the potential of harming lives, the necessary absorbent devices must be deployed. XSORB Caustic Neutralizing Absorbent can effectively resolve any unfavorable chemical leak in minutes. The device neutralizes most organic and inorganic caustics spills safely and effectively.

After a chemical solution is resolved using XSORB products, officials can simply sweep up the remains and properly dispose of the materials. XSORB Caustic Neutralizing Absorbent is non-toxic, eco-friendly and non-leeching, which allows cleanup crews to dispose of remains like traditional trash.
