ECOLOGO Certifications are voluntary environmental certifications that look at a product’s entire life cycle, from how it’s made to how it’s used and disposed of. Products that earn this certification have passed strict scientific testing, detailed audits, or both, to show they meet tough third-party environmental standards.

These standards measure performance in key areas such as materials, energy use, manufacturing practices, health and environmental impact, product performance, and overall sustainability and innovation.

What does it mean when a product is ECOLOGO Certified?

It means it’s gone through rigorous scientific testing and auditing to prove it meets tough, third-party environmental standards.

ECOLOGO Certifications look at a product’s entire life cycle, from materials and manufacturing to energy use, performance, and disposal to ensure it meets high standards for sustainability, safety, and innovation.

When you see the ECOLOGO mark, you can trust it’s a verified choice for a cleaner, more sustainable future.

What is Greenwashing and Why is the UL ECOLOGO Important?

The rise of “eco-friendly labels” has made it challenging to identify which products or suppliers are truly environmentally responsible. To make informed choices, customers need clear, verifiable proof of sustainability rather than empty claims, helping businesses build trust and avoid the risk of greenwashing. UL Solutions provides an ECOLOGO certification to verify and validate sustainable product attributes, giving companies credible recognition and helping customers confidently identify genuine leaders in sustainability.

2.3 The criteria focus on the following main issues:
