Hazmat situation resolved at Texas plant

Hazmat crews in Texas recently responded to a potentially dangerous spill at a manufacturing plant.

Wichita Falls Fire Marshall David Collins told the Times Record News that a fire started in a vat at the Texas Recreation Corp. plant in the city. The facility’s automated fire system kicked in and poured suppressant into the vat, which caused some of the chemicals to spill onto the floor.

“That’s what prompted this to become a hazardous materials situation,” Collins told the news provider. “We have a station dedicated to these kinds of incidents that’s on scene right now. We’ve got seven units and about 20 personnel working it.”

A cleanup crew from Fort Worth was also called to the scene to help with the incident, which did not cause any injuries.

Cleaning up hazardous spills is essential to ensure the safety of those in the area and Impact Absorbents’ XSORB Acid Neutralizing Absorbent is one of the most effective products on the market to deal with such incidents.

Texas Recreation Corp. offers a wide variety of products such as drink coozies and recreational flotation devices.
