How to Keep Your Hills from Slip Slidin’ Away

For some reason, there are various songs about slipping and sliding in the rock ‘n’ roll archives. First Little Richard sang about Slippin’ and a-slidin’; later Paul Simon sang about “Slip Slidin’ Away”. We don’t think he was referring to erosion, but the lyric is appropriate. Without effective protection, in the wet winter months it’s all too easy for soil to slip and slide right down a hillside and into a storm drain. Not good. Impact Absorbents has the solution a number of them, in fact. From X-Straw wattles to Ultra-DrainGuard to Jute netting, gravel bags to wood stakes to silt fencing, we have the erosion control supplies to turn Simon’s song into a sweet musical remembrance instead of a current catastrophe for your municipality. Straw Wattles use high-density polyethylene and ethyl vinyl acetate netting with UV inhibitors to reduce soil erosion and retain sediments on slopes. A companion product, Jute netting, stabilizes the soil and promotes the establishment of permanent vegetation on all types of slopes. It conforms to slope contours and surface irregularities, and stabilizes surface soil with thousands of tiny check dams per square yard. Our gravel bags stay in place when wedged against a road curb, and are tough enough to withstand multiple impacts, controlling sediment, debris and hydrocarbon sheen in storm water runoff. Any sediment that does reach storm drains will be foiled by Ultra DrainGuard, which keeps sediment and other pollutants from entering the water system with catch basin inserts that remove waste from storm water before it can become a problem in the water system. Ultra DrainGuard exceeds 80 percent sediment removal efficiency. Make sure you have proper rain garb available when you set out to protect your municipality from winter’s torrents. Then nothing and no one will be slip-slidin’ away!
