Mississippi reaches agreement with MOEX involving one BP oil spill violation

MOEX Offshore 2007 LLC will pay Mississippi a $5 million fine for environmental cleanup hazards created by the 2010 BP oil spill, the Sun Herald reports. The oil and gas exploration service company will provide the funds to the state Department of Environmental Quality’s Pollution Emergency Fund.

Attorney General Jim Hood told the Sun Herald the violation is the result of civil penalties only. The state will attempt to receive funds from other parties involved in the BP oil spill for environmental and economic harm to the area. The settlement could be the first in a series of agreements relating to damages caused by the oil spill.

The BP oil spill wreaked havoc in many U.S. regions, and oil cleanup became a dangerous task for many individuals. State and local officials may consider the Select Oil Spill Kit as a future solution to environmental hazards.

The kit features tools people can use to clean up any oil spill such as an oil select absorbent, safety goggles and disposal bags. The tools give individuals the opportunity to eliminate hazardous chemicals while completing cleanup tasks safely. In addition, the kit offers quick and easy absorption of hazardous materials in any environment.
