Montana authorities anticipate oil spill findings release soon

Officials told United Press International (UPI) they continue to make progress in a Yellowstone River oil spill investigation. The accident occurred in July 2011 when the Silvertip oil pipeline burst, spilling approximately 1,200 barrels of oil. The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration noted it expects the incident investigation report to be released soon.

Exxon Mobil could pay more than $100 million in environmental cleanup fines due to the hazardous chemical release. Montana Department of Environmental Quality director Richard Opper told UPI that oil spills may occur, but companies can take steps to prevent them from becoming recurring problems.

Businesses can employ various solutions to reduce the risk of oil spills including ColdForm Bonded Universal Absorbent Pads. The safety product offers companies an eco-friendly pad they can use to clean up any environment.

The pads offer 40 percent greater absorbency than polypropylene as they feature natural, renewable fibers. In addition, the pads require one-third the amount of energy to produce compared to polypropylene products. Businesses can purchase light weight, medium weight or heavyweight pads that remain affordable because prices are independent of oil costs.
