Something Fishy’s Going On…

It looked like a massive oil spill, but fortunately the dark ocean waters in southern California were due to a massive migration: a school of anchovy that were no doubt studying climate change. An eyewitness from The Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego said it was like “watching the motion of a lava lamp.” (Note to anyone too young to remember the ’60s: these were novelty lamps in which blobs of wax rose and fell in response to incandescent heat. An icon of the psychedelic era.)

While we at Impact Absorbents are abundantly glad the southern California ocean surprise was a natural phenomenon (although, says Scripps, a school of this magnitude hasn’t been seen in more than 30 years), most of the time the proverbial “red tide” does signal an oil spill. That’s why we’ve developed state-of-the-ocean solutions to keep harbors and marinas safe and clean.

Bilge and sump booms are an easy, economical way to clean water in sumps and reduce contamination in bilge discharge. Our marine spill kits supply everything you need to clean up and dispose of hazardous spills containing oil and other contaminants.

FiberDuck and XSORB Select oil absorbent booms, absorbents socks, and absorbent pads clean up oil spills and other petroleum products from the water’s surface. We even offer recycled FiberDuck Oil Absorbent Pads to support your environmental spill containment efforts. Our advanced technology expands the pad fibers to give you more surface area for increased absorption speed and capacity.

Don’t wait until there’s something fishy going on in your harbor or marina. Be prepared with Impact Absorbent’s environmentally friendly spill clean up and spill containment solutions. And enjoy those anchovies in your salad. It was a long swim.
