Toxic chemical spill creates hazardous situation in California

A truck transporting hazardous chemicals caused local officials to step up environmental cleanup efforts after spilling acid along six blocks of Foothill Boulevard on February 15, 2012, according to The Pasadena Star-News.

Azusa Police Cpl. Terry Smith told the San Gabriel Valley Tribune that the chemical spilled from the truck was identified as chromic acid, a toxic cleaning material used in metal plating. Officials have begun investigating the incident, attempting to track the truck that caused the environmental damage. Cleanup costs are estimated to reach approximately $10,000, Smith told the news source.

Cleaning up an acid leak can take an extended amount of time, but authorities can use the XSORB acid neutralizing absorbent to eliminate dangerous chemicals immediately. The absorbent includes a non-leaching formula that neutralizes acid on contact.

People can pour the solution on an acid spill for simple cleanup and disposal. The formula allows individuals to sweep up a neutralized spill and dispose of it in a landfill. The solution meets government regulations for landfill disposal, and is non-toxic and environmentally friendly. Take advantage of the powerful solution to reduce the impact of hazardous materials on the environment.
