State route 38 in California has been closed for several days following a significant fuel spill on the road.
The Associated Press reports that the spill – which occurred in Angelus Oaks in the San Bernadino Mountains – is a result of a fuel tanker overturning on September 19.
The California Highway Patrol said that contractors have been working hard to clean up the massive spill and the contaminated soil that resulted from it. On the bright side, officials said that a quick initial response prevented the hazardous substance from entering a nearby creek.
