Ready to Run Off?

With spring in the air, you may be getting ready to don your sneakers and start running to get in shape. But before you run off, consider the runoff you might need to attend to first: the overland flow from snow melt and winter storms that could clog drains with debris.

Municipalities can rely on Impact Absorbents for spill containment products that protect storm drains and the environment. Ultra GutterGuard is a premier product designed to filter stormwater before it enters curb inlets. GutterGuard is a synthetic filter manufactured from recycled synthetic fibers, available in various lengths. Note: it should be ordered two feet longer than the curb opening.

Ultra GutterGuard is the easy, inexpensive Best Management Practice (BMP) for protecting curb inlets after winter runoff as well as during construction. It’s quick and easy to use no stakes, weights or hardware required. Just place GutterGuard in front of the curb inlet assuring at least a 12″ overlap on each side, and storm drains stay safe.

A companion product for storm runoff and erosion control is Straw Wattles, which keep sediment on slopes where it belongs. Our 100 percent certified California rice straw wattles use netting that is high-density polyethylene and ethyl vinyl acetate with UV inhibitors. They’re the strongest, most economical wattles available to keep soil in place around drain inlets to prevent sediment blockage.

It’s safe to say that once you have some of Impact Absorbents’ runoff protection products in place, you can tie on those sneakers and take off for a spring run. Remember to stretch!
