This has been a very strange year, elementally speaking. Of the four primary elements — earth, air, water, fire — we live on Earth, and have had far too much fire. But water and clean air have been in short supply.
While we can’t avoid breathing until further notice, and have had to make do with masks, air purifiers, and staying indoors as much as possible, we can do something about drought conditions. No, we weren’t thinking of a rain dance, though you’re welcome to try.
The key is conservation. With climate change now an indisputable reality, there is a lot that both businesses and residences can do to conserve the water we have, even if we can’t manufacture more of it.
And sometimes the steps are amazingly simple. Check out this superb water wise list of suggested actions.
For instance: have you considered shutting off the water (#162) to unused areas of your facility to eliminate waste from leaks or unmonitored use? Or conducted a facility water use inventory to identify water management goals (#159)? A recent study showed that 99% of business managers ranked water conservation as a “top five” priority over the next decade (#176).
