Weather folklore from the Farmers’ Almanac says, “If March comes in like a lion, it will go out like a lamb.”
This colorful analogy seems appropriate, as March is usually wild. Winds whipping fields into a frenzy, storms knocking down tree limbs, runoff damaging drains and hillsides it all calls for an equally powerful response. We’re on it. Here’s how to keep your business safe from a forest full of erosion emergencies:
- Don’t get gutted. Keep rain gutters clear so water flows freely through downspouts. Water seeks an outlet, and if the gutters are clogged, it can pour over the roof and rot out your second-story or foundation, ruining your inventory. So stay on top of the rain.
- Check storm drains.In hard rains and hail storms, grass, leaves and other debris can clog the drainage system and pollute downstream waterways, all of which flow directly into local creeks and rivers.
