An accident in Connecticut leaves 1,200 gallons of oil on I-95

State police are searching for a driver who reportedly caused a wreck on  Interstate 95 in Groton, Connecticut, where a tanker truck rolled over and spilled approximately 1,200 gallons of heating oil, reports The Republic.

Witnesses told officials that a driver cut off the tanker truck at about 3 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, and fled the scene. The tanker struck two other passenger cars, one caught fire immediately. The drivers of the vehicles involved in the crash were all treated for minor injuries, reports the news source.

The accident happened in the Northbound lands of I-95, and cleanup crews remained on the scene until early Thursday.

Crews who are tasked with containing the oil spill may want to use absorbent devices that quickly soak up liquids. ColdForm Bonded Oil-Only Absorbent Pads are top-of-the-line products made from natural, renewable fibers. They are up to 40 percent more absorbent than polypropylene devices and more earth-friendly than other commonly used materials.

Officials who want to use sustainable products to remove oil from roadways may want to use the absorbent pads. The devices help restore order to communities in a timely manner and at an affordable price.
