Chemical spill delays traffic on Virginia highway

Motorists traveling along Route 460 in Suffolk, Virginia, encountered delays on March 5, 2012, due to a tractor trailer accident that released an unknown chemical onto the roadway, WAVY-TV 10 reports. The driver suffered minor injuries and the accident damaged a power pole nearby.

The crash occurred at 9:40 p.m. EST, and officials closed two nearby roads as environmental cleanup work began. In addition, authorities anticipated the road would be closed for several hours after the spill, according to the news source.

A chemical spill can create a messy situation for motorists, but state and local officials can use ColdForm bonded universal absorbent pads to handle cleanup efforts. The eco-friendly product is made from all-natural, renewable fibers capable of absorbing even the most harmful chemicals.

People can use the absorbent product to soak up spills of all sizes. The item is available in light weight, medium weight and heavy weight options, and is proven to be 40 percent more absorbent than polypropylene. In addition, the product requires one-third the amount of energy to produce when compared to similar items. Stable pricing makes the pads an ideal option for consumers nationwide.
