Some Michigan residents are getting a bit frustrated that the oil spill cleanup methods being used on the Kalamazoo River are taking so long.
Last year, an Enbridge Energy Partners pipeline near Marshall, Michigan, burst, spilling more than 800,000 gallons of crude oil into the river, according to the Kalamazoo Gazette.
Galesburg resident Mike Glenn said that he understands that the oil spill needs to be properly cleaned up but he feels that it has dragged on.
“I have a feeling they let things get away from them,” he told the news provider. “I know it was a massive job, but it seems to be taking forever.”
Glenn isn’t the only person frustrated at the cleanup process as Heidi and Mark Yarger told the Battle Creek Enquirer that the work is interfering with their activities.
“We wished we were hunting, but we’re not,” said Heidi Yarger. “We wished we were fishing, but we’re not. We wished we were canoeing, but we’re not.”
